Preparing Your Quilt

Sending your quilt to a longarmer can be daunting.  I strive to make you feel at ease throughout the process.  Below are some basic recommendations that you will want to have covered.  We will dive into more specifics with your individual quilt or project when we have our consultation.  At that time I can answer any additional questions or requests you might have.  In the meantime, please know you are always welcome to reach out at any point along the way.

1

Tidy your quilt top

Congratulations on completing your quilt top!  You should feel proud!  Please take a few more minutes to make sure your top is pressed and your seams are secure, particularly any seams that extend to the edge of the quilt.  Kindly trim any stray threads, as well.

2

Prepare your backing

Your quilt "sandwich" will be secured to the longarm frame with pins and clamps.  It is important that there is enough extra fabric to help with this process.  Please make sure your backing fabric is 4 to 6 inches larger on all four sides.  Just like the top, please press and tidy the backing.  In addition, please square your backing or let me know if you would like me to help with this. I am happy to provide this service for a small, extra fee.

Complete the "Book a Quilt" form on the website and click "Submit"!

Please follow the link above or click the button below to complete the form which will notify me you are interested in longarming services.  Once received, I will be in touch to schedule a convenient time to discuss your quilt or project. We can talk through any questions you might have and go over any next steps.  Please complete the form to the best of your ability.  Don't worry if there are some questions that you may not have answers to just yet.  We can go over those when we meet.  I look forward to hearing from you!
